Data sources
Public data, explained plainly.
The platform should be opinionated about prioritization, but conservative about data provenance.
Likely source categories
- Official district boundary files
- State and county election results
- Registration/turnout datasets where public
- Census or other public demographic context
- Reference metadata for offices, jurisdictions, and cycles
Design rule
A user should be able to ask “why is this district marked high priority?” and get an answer that is grounded in transparent inputs, not a black box.
Version one expectation
The first real data version can still be lightweight: manually curated examples, sourced carefully, with enough structure to prove the product before large-scale ingestion work begins.
